Whether you’re travelling for business or you’ve just decided to take a spontaneous vacay, you may one day find yourself in the heart of Texas. You’ll probably be wondering what on earth there is to do here and the answer is a lot. While we wouldn’t say that there’s something for everyone in the lone star state, you’ll have a hard time staying bored.

Go Mudding

These Guys Are Doing It Wrong

If you’re looking for an adventure and a little excitement we do suggest you try mudding. Mudding, if you’ve never heard of it, is very much like quad biking. There’s just one slight change that is worth considering here, and that’s the fact that the tracks underneath the vehicles that you are using are caked in thick, sloppy mud. Oh, you’ll get messy that’s for sure, but it’s great fun and when you arrive back at the finish line completely indistinguishable it’s hard not to laugh. Wipe the mud from your goggles, and we bet you’ll want to go again and again. Mudding isn’t exactly unique to Texas, but it is incredibly popular, particularly with the young in small country towns.

Visit The Biggest Military Base In The World!

That’s right the world. By size and scope, this base is massive, and it is one of the places where you can’t help but feel the weight of the USA army. From tanks to fighter jets you’ll see it all here, and if that’s not enough, there is also an incredible museum that will take you back in time and tell you stories of wars and battles past. Foot Hood army base really is a sight to see and with hotels like Best Western Harker Heights- Killeen – Fort Hood also has some great accommodation options nearby. If you are visiting Texas and you want to lavish in a little luxury, this possibility is well worth considering.

Visit One Or All Of The Four Schlitterbahn’s

We have no idea where this water park gets its name. What we can tell you is that there are four scattered around Texas each with thrilling rides that the whole family will enjoy. The massive heights won’t be for everyone but there are pools to relax in and even jacuzzis so even one of these waterparks could make for a great day out. They are very popular with the locals so do make sure that you arrive early and leave late.

Become Invisible

You’ll find one of the largest chunks of granite in the world in Texas. We know that in itself isn’t exciting but according to legends if you camp on it overnight – and you can – you’ll turn invisible. We can’t say we have tested this idea, but you are more than welcome to! Who knows, perhaps you’ll become the world’s first superhero!

Go Cliff Diving

Geronimo

Jacob’s Well is a place where you can dive 12ft into a swimming hole near the entrance to a maze of underwater caves. If you have experience diving or are eager to learn, you can explore them for yourself but be warned they are incredibly long and deep. It’s easy to get lost without a guide!

As you can see then, finding yourself deep in the heart of Texas could actually be one of the best adventures of your life.
